Light Fixture Schedule Quantities Are Incorrect

The quantities in my light fixture schedule don't match what's inserted on my drawing. How do I fix my light fixture counts?

Typically, incorrect light fixture quantities have one of three causes, each with its own solution.

Light Fixture Schedule Has Not Been Updated

The light fixture schedule, once inserted on the drawing, does not update automatically as you make changes in your project. You will need to periodically update the schedule to show the latest information.

To update your light fixture schedule, run the Insert Light Fixture Project Schedule command that you used to insert the schedule initially. When you press the , the schedule on the drawing will update in place.

Database Has Light Fixtures Not Visible On the Drawing

If your drawing and the project database fall out of sync—typically due to the drawing closing without being saved—it can result in database records for light fixtures that no longer exist on the drawing.

To fix synchronicity issues with the database, run the Coordinate Drawings and Database command. Light fixtures recorded in the database will be checked against those on the drawing, and any not visible will be inserted and highlighted, allowing you to decide whether each fixture should remain or be erased.

Additional Drawings Have Light Fixtures Inserted

Every drawing in the same folder as the project database is considered part of the project; thus, all light fixtures inserted across all drawings in the folder are included in the light fixture schedule.

To find light fixtures on other drawings, run the Project Explorer command, then set the Sort Order ▾ to Sort by drawing, then callout. If you find additional fixtures, the solution will depend upon whether you need the drawings on which they are inserted.

Drawing Should Exist in the Folder, Fixtures Should Not

Drawings that should be in the project folder but should not have light fixtures inserted on them, such as XREFs, can be cleaned up through the Project Explorer dialog box. Select a fixture associated with the drawing, then press the button to open that drawing. Erase the light fixtures on the drawing, save it, then run the Project Explorer command again to confirm the database has no light fixtures associated with the drawing.

Drawing Should Not Exist in the Folder

For drawings that should not be in the project folder, such as duplicate site plans, use the Delete Drawing command to delete the drawing and erase any associated light fixtures from the database.

tip

If you need copies of site plans for alternative designs, phasing, etc., create a subfolder or separate folder in Windows, then run the Copy or Back Up Project command to copy the entire project to the new folder. This separation will ensure the copies do not interact with one another or with the main project.
